Argument:
In the late 1800s, two Arizona cowboys shot and killed a pterodactyl. It was reported in the Tombstone Epitaph newspaper

Response:
No evidence exists to prove the existence of this story
The team sent to examine the specimen could not find it
The alleged pterodactyl was 92 feet in length, with a wingspan of 160 feet. No pterodactyls of this size have ever been found in the fossil record. It was also purported to have been loaded in a wagon and brought to town. No wagons of this size existed in 19th century Arizona
Young earth arguments obtained from cowboys should not be relied upon as scientific evidence
